THE LOVE MOTIVE.......
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
19th May, 2011
Why we fall in love? Interesting question, isn’t it……. What is the urge behind our crazy attention to that special person? Why we wish to have a great relationship with a particular man or woman in life and then why it diminishes with time?
Love has strange habit. It tends to give and receive intense warm sentiments. We feel good and sad at the same time. The change of moods is continuously taking place with the kinds of moods we personally are going through during the day and night. These mood changes may mostly be self imagined or a result of misunderstanding. We are prone to getting hurt without offence and get heart-broken with no serious cause in sight. Just our assumptions!
To me, loving is a great act but it is also naïve and childish in that we expect the world and the guy or gal we are focusing to pay attention to our emotions and gestures are based on innocent or even foolish expectations.
There are issues in life that we take them for granted. Not so when it comes to love. First of all, it is not in our control most of the time. It is a sort of flow of feelings that come suddenly and in a natural way. It has different points of view and degrees of effect. Love cannot be measured or there is no formula to its pains and joys. We get displeased so it turns into hated or disillusions of all kinds. We are pulled in opposite directions.
I feel the love that a parent as a father or mother has to its offspring is the most natural, pure and selfless. Or the love that is cultivated between biological relations is normally very strong and worthwhile. However, the love that is so commonly appreciated and looked for is the one that nurtures between the two of opposite sexes culminating in a bond of marriage for a lifelong commitment is no less important. We are lucky to have someone near us who is the jewel of our find in all around possessions. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever as Keats said. That joy can come from that special person in our life. Yet, trouble can arise due to misunderstandings, mismatch in attitudes, broken expectation or simply because ‘we were not made for each other……. I made a blunder’ type of outcome.
Times change and so do feelings. The sweet memories turn bitter when our warmth and sincerity is not appreciated or taken for granted. Suspicion itself is a killer. We should not let doubt creep into our relations as suspicion torments our hearth and we are threatened with the feeling of being deserted. May be she is lying…… may be he is fooling around, probably they are meeting someone else and so on. The doubts are endless if one is destined to take a lead from his unfounded thoughts. The Devil comes into play its role. Soon the love is be-gone. Working out a solution becomes almost impossible. Listening to each other calmly becomes a harshly testing temper game.
But the conclusion is…… all that said and heard one thing is terribly true. We run after images…. In our thoughts and in our practice. We love the mortal men and women or even those who are our blood relations…… all are perishable. The most true, continuing and permanent love is the Love with God. If we are looking for light, it comes from HIM. If we are looking for passion, for mercy, for being awarded the pleasure of life and anything that is important in life, God is the only reliable source of comfort, satisfaction and success. Let’s love HIM if we do not wish to be left alone, unattended, uncared for and un-noticed. God sees every one, listen to their prayers and come to our help when we so much need Him. I like to fall in love with God, the Creator of all the goodness, beauty and nobility that is there in this universe. Thank you Allah Paak for bestowing upon us your kindness, wisdom and health and wealth. We all love You……. Indeed!

THE FRIGILE RELATIONS
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
19th May, 2011
Quite naively the main concern of the couple involved is for the marriage is fulfillment of one’s natural instincts of physical satisfaction that we call sexual gratification. Beyond that, the spouse is a source of income, security, companionship and a sense of belonging and sharing responsibilities posing secondary issues.
For some of those getting married, these problems and responsibilities are important and they do have some sort of future planning to handle these matters. While the majority is at the initial stage in the grip of a euphoria to own a “spouse” and prevail upon him or her in the coming fun days and nights.
THE IMAGINARY EXPECTATIONS
Since mostly the couples are looking for a strong, well established, handsome husband and a beautiful, well mannered and soft dealing wife, these are considered as a basic expectations to begin with. However, these attributes are usually not available in all marriages and hard to come by. While the more aggressive party blames the weaker partner alleging to be as the root cause of differences in a married life, no body appears willing to accept these accusations. Counseling is rarely accessible and effected parties shun the idea to seek help in their matrimonial problems. They are afraid of insults, reprimands or making fun by their peers or friends in family.
PARENTS ARRANGED OR SELF CHOSEN?
Some marriages are arranged by parents (as in the East) and some are independent, love marriages with or without the consent of parents. At the time of wedlock, rarely the attitude or aptitude of the spouse on either side gets much attention of the couple itself.
The elders who are the well wishers of the couple also do not pay heed to the importance of mental or psychological match making before the matters reach the final matrimonial stage. More attention is paid to the physical arrangements of the party event, the number of guests, the menu of dishes to serve, the music to play and the gifts to receive or present to the bridegroom and the bride. Here lies the actual problem.
THE BLUNDER REVEALED
After the initial few weeks or months, the couple starts feeling the blunder in their selection or choice of each other. The thoughts are not adaptable. The personalities and the taste are wide apart. Even the religious or public mixing or the shopping styles differ greatly. Isn’t it too late to mend?
Strangely enough, despite the occasional outburst and off and on quarrels, the sexual relation between the couple continues unaffected. This results usually every year in birth of kids. When the disputes take a serious shape, the unequal match now comes to an abrupt end, causing tremendous damage to the welfare, upbringing and care of the kids concerned.
A legal battle or an outright separation like divorce means a havoc and extreme distress for the children. If in the very beginning, not only the behavioral analysis should have been conducted before hand but the family background, education, quality of life endured and evidence of elders about the smooth personality of the spouses be also taken into consideration before allowing the couple to get into the marriage bindings.
RESPECTING THE WEDDING CONTRACT
Marriage is a contract for life time when we marry. It has big implications needing matured handling techniques by both the wife and the husband. It is not a gamble playing with the lives of many involved unknowingly. Only those are in fact entitled to a well managed, matured married life fruits who have earned their position in life. With a vision on their future prospects, a nice family can be nurtured and grown up.
Statistics show the women are less educated or at least more emotional in day to day life. They get hurt quickly and they take offence even unintentionally. This may not be very true but it cannot be denied that they are on the weaker side and the man can over whelm them in many ways.
THE TRICK TO HARMONY FOR COUPLES
If all efforts are undertaken to ensure the couple is emotionally and academically compatible and congenial, the harmony of a life together can be more certain.
On the other hand, men have the power to dominate in most of the cases which rather requires them to be more patient, more accommodating and more generous in their handling their spouses. It befits the men to be kinder and considerate. Love has a powerful magnetism that makes women feel happy and secured and respected. Can’t we do that? As they verse goes “Don’t go breaking my heart, I won’t go breaking your heart.”

THE IMMIGRATION BENEFITS…. YES OR NO?
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
Everything has its good or bad aspects. Like the two sides of a coin. When convincing on an issue that affects our life, our family, our career and our future, both plus and minus points of a proposal must be weighed.
Immigration is a tough decision. Good for some, worse for some. Sure, it brings fulfillment of dreams and desires in well planned cases..... Or it may destroy the planning and drown the ship in mid ocean..... It further has cultural shocks or reunion pleasures with family members settled abroad.
Certain immigration moves are of course chalked out duly analyzed. Particularly the Businessmen and Investors who have plenty of well earned money, knowhow and looking for greener pastures to multiply their holdings. Usually they have had the expertise of how to do the trick.
Prosperity is not the only benefit with prime importance. It may offer the applicant and his family an opportunity to enjoy amongst the best of quality of life in the world, in an almost pollution and corruption free environment with many free social facilities. And, security for family, a very important concern on most of the minds.
Moreover, the Investors and the Businessmen with well established businesses in the third world countries wish to have a 2nd Passport for emergency exit should there occur a revolution or the people turn up violent in a lawlessness situation. They also eye the high quality of education available in developed countries for their beloved kids and the security these countries are proud of. Top quality medical treatment and a high standard of living with dependable modern infra structure are added benefits.
Besides, the money making opportunities are ample as the peaceful environment works for flouring investments very well. Opportunities are abundant. And the governments are generous in allowing enterprises to work smoothly..... It is a sort of a lottery received with planning for the successful immigrant. 40% of knowledgeable Pakistani/Indians/Chinese and South Asians dream of leaving the dirty conditions in their slums and low paid incomes to move out....even if the life is a tough one, beginning from a scratch....... but taking a chance is too exciting!
The overall reviews tell us that Immigration to a common man does not carry much incentive as the very cost of migration with the whole family and arranging settlement funds is an issue itself. However, for the rich, it is a matter of 'extra luxury' as money can buy anything, even a highly placed nationality. No doubt the benefits are many but for the selected few. So, should we migrate......?
Other more clear and precise benefits generally for all concerned may include:
>>Arrange easy admission as a developed country resident to benefit from the subsidized but high-standard education at College and University levels, for self and children;
>>Use of latest financial/banking systems for expansion of his existing and worldwide business operations.
>>An opportunity of making the migrated country his business base, • Start a foreign business that may be managed by his children in future.
>>Can open a chance for his relatives at the home country assisting them for settlement in the selected country.
>>Awareness to international life styles, more matured decision making and easy interaction with various nationalities and cultural understanding. What do you say?

THE FRUSTRATED PEOPLE AND NATIONS
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
A nation is a combination of all groups and factions of a society and community. United, they form a Nation irrespective of cast, creed, religion, gender or background. Even huge differences in their individual ways of life, culture, ethnic views and past matter a little when belonging to the concept of a Nation comes in.
Unfortunately, this is not found, not in the case of some of the nations in trouble. .... The trouble may relate of uncertainty of faith, uncertainty of belonging to each other, uncertainty of interest of living together, flourishing together and most of all, doubting the intentions of fellows around one and worse is when being tortured by the cruelest few around them.
There are some key reasons for such a painful situation. When the law does not find its way or roadblocks are erected in its smooth flow, or when justice is either delayed or denied upfront..... When the selfish groups and their motives rule prime and cutting throats to survive or to luxury at the cost of others lives and property, the national bonds shatter badly. When this havoc happens, it is not the victims alone who suffer. Those who are at the helm of affairs and those who live in the glass houses do get stoned and badly hurt. It is natural. When the flood comes in rushing, it does not differentiate in good or bad, tall or small, it simply washes away anything that comes in its way.
In Pakistan, some parts of India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Thailand, some iron curtain countries of eastern Europe, and some countries that are independent now but still under the last effects of the Colonial powers, the national spirit is evidently weak or made weak by the vested interest locally or by international players. The local warlords, religious factions, dacoits and black marketers, profiteers, land or drug mafias or power hungry groups who wish to keep the innocent people as puppets in their cruel clutches, the feel for a united national pride vanishes fast.
Those responsible to rectify this situation are the political leaders and the government concerned in the first impression to the beholder's eye. However, it is easy to blame only these two major characters. As indicated above, and the list is long, all responsible for creating the current situation of anarchy are to be brought to book.
A revolution is usually the answer to such lawlessness, as in Iran or Chili or Cuba or some African countries, in the last few decades. The success of such revolutions is always questionable but the cure is always bitter to swallow. Many sacrifice just to uphold the identity of their nation or the land of their nation. Or, best still, bringing the difference of opinion to the table of discussion with sincerity and an intention to be practical.
For the national revival, instead of declaring that all that cannot be cured must be endured, it is advisable that all efforts must be undertaken by the intellectual and elite educated and cultured class of the society concerned for the cure, whether successful or not. We do not work on a project with an advance guarantee of 100% success. Calculated risks are always taken and most of the time the task is accomplished as desired. Let us feel totally concerned, deeply involved and fully committed for the reconstruction of the National Thought and start reforming the ills around us without expecting a reward, appreciation or guaranteed result. Let us do it selflessly.
Believe me, our national unity and pride is a matter of life and death in the cycle of international existence. One famed philosopher of the past rightly said that 'I feel alive because I think....' Very true. So, mere existence as a breathing person is almost like living a life of an animal who really is not capable of refined thinking as we human being do.
Steps must be taken, now
So let us think, ponder, analyze, accept or national mistakes and follies and finally make up our minds as to how we can save our National from the irrigational phase it is going through and what useful part each one of us can play to avoid the prevalent irritation, frustration and lawlessness. I suggest we work as a group, a selfless group of Reformers Of National Cause, raising our voice for elimination of all kinds of war lords and their fighting groups in the name of spreading Islam, for elimination of street crimes and dacoits at home and businesses, fake politicians leading the nation to No-Destination, declarations of deception by persons in authority telling the poor people of no-poverty soon, no load-shedding soon, no-crimes soon, no disputes of national level soon and prosperity for all, soon. We must stand up as the time is running by. Naturally, we all have a heart that beats with the national pain. What can we do? when it is true.....AND IT IS FOR ME AND YOU, to think!
All those who have been bestowed with God-given faculties of mind, who can think and can think of how to implement these vitreous objectives for the National Revival and Life and be able to look into the mirror with peace and pride. We all must die, soon and should leave some assets of respect and good work that those left behind should feel thankful, admire and pray for us. Any suggestions? (The National Lover) is what we should all be termed as.

SOME OBVIOUS FACTORS BEHIND THE NEED TO MIGRATE
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
Surprisingly, the number of individuals considering migration to economically better off countries is on the rise sharply. People tend to leave their ancestors land where they were brought up, educated, romanced, played, worked and cultivated relationships, are now abandoning their loved ones for seeking better prospect...... Is it the only truth?
Well, who does not want financial security, independence and some eggs in
the nest for the future? My concern lies where the main considerations ar the bad conditions at home countries from where the migration influx is coming to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, European destinations etc...... Most of the troubled places on this globe are on our finger tips and need not a mention.
Immigration due to bad conditions? What bad conditions? Although ranked high, I do not wish to emphasize too much importance on poverty or bad economy in under developed nations to indicate as a major cause of huge quantity of people migrating abroad. In fact.... the most dreadful thing fiercely compelling appears to be the horrible law and order and political unstable situations making life miserable. I hold the people in power in the poor and badly managed countries. If they don’t know how to dance, they blame the floor as upside down.
Added for past few years is the havoc of 'terrorism' that has plagued the normal life pattern both in cities and rural areas of countries like Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines and so on. An easy solution and readily available route to get out of this rut is 'immigration' to wealthy countries, no doubt. But again, is the eyed wealth and prosperity known in the highly developed countries waiting for the newly arriving immigrants? No way.
Just go through a number of web links, for instance, www.notcanada.com that not only inform us to our dismay the most disappointing scenarios the new comers come across.... the shattered dreams, the unemployment and the rejection faced, the incomparable qualifications, doubtful employers, ethnic problems, so it means that for the day dreamers, everything that shines is not necessarily gold! Instead, if one acts patiently and wisely he can always hope and manage to have a contented life as a poor or a person with moderate means in his own county. Times do change and shall change.
Interestingly, although I am an immigration consultant for last 2 decades and yet, to be honest with all, I do not encourage most of my clients to 'settle abroad' unless there are good reasons of his suitability, destination or choice of where he is being advised for, calculated ease of settlement worked out professionally, family connections, job probabilities or business opportunities. Lots of homework needs to have been done, indeed. So, opting for immigration is really not everybody's cup of tea. To my vision, it has something to do with wisdom, far sight and a hint of philosophical evaluation of one's objectives defined very clearly and searched thoroughly.
True that life in frightening, unsafe surroundings in one's own country is a terrible thing to bear. These problem spots are rich in human resources and untapped talent. Migration to greener pastures seems to them an attractive and the only option. However, it certainly should not be something like 'Out of fire, into the frying pan.' To a lucky few, migration may turn into like 'digging gold' but most of the ventures are not that lucky. In fact a large number ends up like a taxi driver, a door man, a sales rep or restaurant worker although at home they held positions of prestige.
My point is: does the migration option really leads to the coveted 'paradise on earth'? I don't think. The rich countries do not really wish to part with their wealth with the labour class or skilled professionals that they 'import' after clever selection and charging money to allow them to come in with huge personal 'settlement funds'. They are in fact needy of a working class with skills that the rich countries residents do not wish to perform. Seeing no alternative to the problems of people forced to migrate, the underdeveloped countries face a tragic impact. Not only the obvious brain-drain, the families roots are broken, distances create bitter psychological problems, families starving for their dear ones for years, not able to afford to get to their parent countries frequently and of course, the cultural shock and a collision of civilizations in a strange country that awaits them.
The conclusion and food for thought most alarmingly shall be: Is it not the time for the governments of under-developed and poor countries rich in human power to immediately work out strategies for the betterment of the poor class and pay devotedly fast attention to improvement of law and order quality, particularly elimination of fast increasing street crimes in big cities like Bombay, Karachi, Delhi, Kabul, Lahore, Dhaka, and many more? If the quality of life improves, so shall the wages, businesses, industries, factories, infrastructures and money making opportunities and one can enjoy his life with his loved ones in the presence of his close relatives, friends, places, memories and in familiar cultures. No one to blame then...... Why not think cautiously........ watch before you leap. Stay until you are sure and then, if successful, it is your entire smile. I-SMILE.

THE PUZZLE IN LIFE…………
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
I was wondering if I am given a chance to select a few options for a contented, happy life,
what would be my priorities:
>>Money ?
>>Fame ?
>>Youth ?
>>Long Age ?
>>Extra Ordinary Beauty?
>>Intellect of Big Thinkers
>>Power to rule and command
>>Insight in future
>>Great Health
Well, the list may still be continued....... but I suppose I have mentioned the most common 'in demand' wishes. But what it normally does not include is the most important of all wishes that few give weight.
It is the 'Faith' in God and believing that even if we are bestowed upon with all the 9 wishes listed above, live is to end ultimately. We know but we naively do not acknowledge that we shall have to leave behind all our assets with our loved ones ( or not-loved ones, unfortunately if that is the case), so what do we carry with us when we depart........
The departure can be tragic or terrific.
Tragic for those who did not have a faith in life hereinafter. Faith that whether they like it or not, allow it or not, welcome it or not and accept it or not....... (Who cares), finally the bell would ring and 'it is time to go'.
Terrific for those who are not so worldly-minded........ have a faith...... do good to all around them expecting a return up there, breathing so smoothly to their last....... and leave with a smile on their lips...... Nothing really to worry except the fear of being questioned for excesses done to others or one's own self. Accountability is a must in a faith to keep us well set on our divine path.
Almost all the heavenly religions teach us the best of their findings and teachings so far...... There have been famous Godly Messengers, Emperors, Kings, Pharos, big philosophers, thinkers, writers, poets, intellectuals, inventors, builders, solution providers and creators of world fascinating formulas on stars, world creation, chemistry, physics, engineering..... but so what....... what is the big deal.
They are calmly resting in their graves with after death purely temporary lip service/appreciations and credit to their worldly achievements off and on. These celebrities and big names are unable to collect any further reward and they could not carry any belongings with them..... If they lived a 'good' life as per the prevalent society rules, they have a chance to get dealt with softly...... otherwise, well, we can imagine the punishment for a culprit, no doubt.
The only thing that goes with us is what we 'saved' for our life after the present worldly life. If we do not believe in this, our life is a vehicle without a steering...... without a clear motive, without a calculated destination......... and you know, if we have no destination, then it does not matter where we are going........ Every where we turn to it shall lead us to 'nowhere'. Life needs an obvious, well thought of purpose.
If there was no purpose, the creation of this universe becomes a joke. All with good sense can realize the fact that even in this world; we cannot count a good deed equal to a bad deed. We do not regard a fine, virtuous person as good as a notorious trouble maker with loads of sins and filth....... can we?
May God bless us all with what is really sustaining, always dependable and so much joyful. The reasoning above leads us to ponder that the fact is it is only 'Faith in Lord' that gives us a sense of living a purposeful, cautious life hoping a good end here and a good welcome there. Let us not take it easy....... for ensuring an easy life later. Smile

THE POWER AND MIRACLES OF IMAGINATION
By: M. M. ISMAIL, WESTLAND
Believe me sometimes my one foot is on the earth while the other is at the sky. The miracle of my imagination. I am at liberty to fly, swim, go the heaven for a walk, peep into the bloody hell for a bitter view of its residents, talk to angels and have a review of what lies ahead if I did not perform well in this world…… All by using my imagination!
The great works of art, the fantastic poetry written, the fascinating paintings, the fabulous music composed, the huge beautiful palaces designed, the inventions created…… the list is long….. all being the fruit of original imagination and subsequent innovative improvements………
Imagination is a way out to rejoicing our past as a child. We enjoyed and valued so much the warmth of our mother’s embrace, our father’s cuddling, and our friends holding hands, the good old holidays from school. Imagine they were all here. Listen to their chuckles, their happy cries and shouts to get together, the sweet trips to the canal, to the big part, to the sea side….. Making sand castles…. And I can recall them into my solitude through my imagination… We talk for hours, making plans for tomorrow…… all by me in the comfort of my imagination room……..
A thought first is born in our imagination. It is then nurtured into a viable plan…… which takes the shape of an action….. while the imagination original outline keeps following the developments minutely until the whole the whole idea is clear.
Even a battle or a debate, small or big, a marriage or a funeral, friendship or enmity, virtuous deeds or heinous crimes, all need the construction material for a plan and a ground basis of our imagination. We think therefore we exist. And we cook a dish in our mind, applying tricks and techniques, using all mental gymnastics, adding necessary ingredients of our genius thoughts, weighing the plus and minus and pros and cons of planning or secret intentions that first get born in our mind.
You see how even a small get together or a big celebration party has to be first planned and then executed by many participants of that event. Imagine how groups of people come up with good or bad motives or how the governments consider good or bad governance, and all eyes on the Mast Mind who imagines, plans, dictates through his vision and past experience……..
In fact, the whole world is a product of a divine imagination. God though of the universe…. And there it was. HE thought of human needs and very kindly furnished it with everything in an immaculate manner and created the best creation ever, the human being, at his own style. We observe a huge and a very thoughtful Godly vision in the making and creation of flowers, butter flies, the food we eat, the water and milk we consume, the dress we wear, the wood, iron, diamonds, crops, the rain, the shadow, the sunshine, all have a purpose, duly imagined, created and supported with an anticipated vision from above. How great.
We are bestowed with the thinking faculty, planning, improving, changing, criticizing, coming up with grand plans, logic, reasoning, ability to foresee our consequences, getting ready in anticipation for what may come ahead using our imagination and insight.
Speaking of insight, wisdom, intellect, genius thought cycle, all are clearly the result of special imagination. Or, may be, the branches of imagination. Some of us are blessed with more of this quality, while some have expertise in other attributes but still fairly connected to their mental capabilities. The more one is prized with these attributes, God given of course, the more powerful imagination comes in to play and produce astonishing miracles of workmanship, achievements, endeavours and struggles. The results thus achieved are eye openers.
Or imagine the power that the rulers enjoy and execute…… or think of the good old days I was younger, energetic and free to do things without giving much tension or thought…… Imagine, Imagine….. It takes us out of the cage of the harsh realistic world which has little to offer us despite a hard day’s toil…. The Hippocratic world that does not see eye to eye in our planning and life style….. The cruel criminals focusing on looting us, killing us and the unjust society who would not feed us if were to die of hunger and poverty….. The uncivilized governments ruling the masses for their selfish ends careless for their welfare, security, prosperity, justice and self respect. Who cares?
So where is the refuge then….. Running away from this life….. Commit suicide? Can’t do that either….. have obligations to our sweet kids and parents….. The only refuge then is to get a blanket over and close your eyes and imagine a better world, a better life and a better future…. May God soon listen to our misery and reach us for help. Won’t it be a miracle? Well nothing is impossible when you imagine!
I am so much fond of lying in my couch with a hot cup of coffee or a cold glass of milk with Chocolate and ponder on how to make more worldly achievements, make more money, achieve happiness for all around us, particularly our family and those associated with it, plan pleasure travels to exotic places, be in the company of human beings with common sense of humanity, cultured enough to feel easy being around with them, away from all kinds of prejudice, bias, cruelty, selfishness and wastage of talents. Imagine the world is free from all these evils, wars, hunger, famine, disease.
We look for a fine morning when the people we interact behave like innocent angels, deal us with honesty and regard and ensure we are not cheated, dishonored or deprived of our due share of life’s pretty joys….. Our rights are secured and our belongings are safe. Lets hope and keep imagining….. the basis of future expectations, the beauty of a positive attitude towards all of us…….. Happy Imagination!
